Plate Heat Exchanger MEE (PHE MEE)

The Plate Heat Exchanger Multiple Effect Evaporator (PHE MEE) is a compact and energy-efficient multi-effect evaporation system that utilizes plate-type heat exchangers for high-performance heat transfer.
It is widely used across various industrial sectors thanks to its small footprint, high thermal efficiency, and ability to handle diverse liquid solutions.
Plate MEE Evaporators are particularly suitable for continuous evaporation processes requiring energy and space savings.

1. Working Principle

The PHE MEE system operates by transferring heat from hot steam to the process liquid through plate heat exchangers.
The solution is pumped between thin plates where it is heated and evaporated.
During the process, vapor generated from one effect is reused as the heating medium for the next stage, forming an efficient energy-recovery multi-effect system that minimizes energy consumption.

2. Plate Heat Exchanger Design

The heat exchanger consists of multiple thin plates stacked together to maximize the contact area between the heating surface and the liquid.
This configuration significantly improves heat transfer efficiency while maintaining a compact design that saves installation space.

3. Multiple Effect Evaporation (MEE)

The system includes several evaporation stages (effects).
The vapor from each stage provides the heat source for the following stage, allowing the thermal energy to be reused multiple times.
This cascading process achieves high evaporation performance while dramatically reducing overall energy demand.

4. Advantages

  • High heat transfer efficiency with compact, modular design.

  • Energy saving through multi-effect heat reuse.

  • Easy maintenance and scalability for various industrial processes.

  • Ideal for limited-space installations or continuous evaporation operations.

5. Applications

  • Food & Beverage: Concentration of juices, dairy, and syrups.

  • Chemical Industry: Concentration of inorganic and organic solutions.

  • Pharmaceuticals: Low-temperature evaporation for heat-sensitive products.

  • Environmental Treatment: Concentration of wastewater and brine recovery.
